RDA seeks qualified candidates for part-time Executive Director position.

RDA Executive Director Job Description

Executive Director is responsible for management of the organization with a focus on donor relations and outreach programs. The position is a part-time, at-will employee who serves at the pleasure of the Board of Directors.

Supervision

Executive Director reports to and works closely with Board of Directors.

Duties

Essential Functions

  • Track open items through project management system.
  • Respond to inquiries via telephone and e-mail.
  • Answer and route media inquiries and track follow-up.
  • Liaison with Jitasa for financial information/tracking.
  • Interview, train, and manage Circle Leaders to assist with local advocacy as Circle Liaison.
  • Communicate with donors and general public through blog, newsletter, and publications; thank you notes, welcome kit materials, and renewal letters.
  • Oversee process to encourage member renewal.
  • Oversee primary annual fundraising events The Great Cloth Diaper Change and School of Cloth.

Further Duties as time permits

  • Develop with Board volunteer programs that advance RDA’s mission.
  • Implement volunteer programs that advance RDA’s mission.
  • Fundraising, including marketing to potential donors, event planning and assisting with grant writing.
  • Maintain updated advocacy materials and distribute to donors.
  • Update website content as needed.
  • Develop and report on research projects that advance the RDA mission.

Experience

  • Familiarity with cloth diapering issues and education.
  • Excellent communication, management, and organizational skills, including nonviolent communication.
  • Nonprofit or other corporate management experience.
  • Writing, editing, and graphics skills for communication projects.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Development skills.
  • Grassroots community organizing experience a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of cloth diaper industry a plus.
  • Education in business or nonprofit management preferred.

Hours & Compensation

10-15 hours per week at $12-16/hour, depending on experience. Additional hours and compensation after six months based on funding.

Performance Standards

Board of Directors will judge performance of Executive Director in the following areas: financial stability of organization; creativity and strength of public programs; and effectiveness of management team.
