100% Reusable Cloth Diapers Every Time

100% Reusable Cloth Diapers Every Time

As an organization, Real Diaper Association supports the use of 100% reusable cloth diapers.

We are concerned about the waste created by disposable products, no matter whether that waste is sent to a landfill for 1000 years, flushed and disposed of through wastewater treatment, or composted and disposed of as yard waste. Reusable products do not create waste.

We know a lot of our donors and volunteers work hard to find ways to keep babies in 100% reusable cloth diapers all of the time, and we want to recognize you.  We also want to use your expertise to create support materials to help you in continuing your advocacy and support work.

Announcing the 100% Reusable Cloth Diapers Campaign

The Real Diaper Association announces the 100% Reusable Cloth Diapers Campaign to help parents choose reusable cloth diapers every time, all the time. For the next year we will ask the experts for advice on overcoming any difficulties cloth diapering parents may face.  Then we will compile that advice and provide it to parents and caregivers who need support.

Who are the experts? They are experienced cloth diapering parents willing to share what they know with new parents, health care providers, and others.

You are the experts! Parents who find 100% reusable solutions in every cloth diapering situation have valuable tips and techniques to share with those who are struggling to succeed.

Yes, You Can Participate! Spread your knowledge and experience face-to-face in Real Diaper Circles, with friends and family, or online. Help parents and caregivers overcome obstacles to using 100% reusable cloth diapers.  Every few months we'll focus on a different major obstacle, so stay up-to-date via this blog to continue your support for our year-long campaign.

Are you using 100% reusable cloth diapers on your baby all night? The first area we're focusing on is nighttime cloth diapering.  RDA is looking for your tips to succeeding with 100% reusable cloth diapers all night. At night especially it is important to us to ensure that we're not placing our daughter in harm's way due to the chemicals in plastic/paper diapers. We prefer to know that she's in natural fibers, especially for the extended night-time period.
Hi. I think this is a great way to get the word out there en masse! We are a natural, organic & eco-friendly website for babies and children. We are dedicated to the use of cloth diapers and to the promotion of companies, be they corporations or WAHM's who make their own cloth diapers & accessories. We believe that cloth diapering is the best solution not only for the environment but for the baby as well. It is our goal to offer advice, solutions and information on our site to people who are considering cloth diapering and people who are cloth diapering.

We've been cloth diapering since day 1 with bumGenius 3.0. The same set of diapers goes from infant to potty training without having to worry about buying something new as the child grows. With the pocket diapers we can adjust the level of absorbency as needed. This is especially great at night. We're now at 13 months using the large insert, the infant insert and a hemp insert. It would be a bit bulky for day wear, but works perfectly for the entire night. A year of washing 23 diapers every 2 days and they still look almost new. The laundry tabs are just starting to wear out, but with bumGenius you can get a diaper refresh kit with new elastic, velcro, and laundry tabs for only a $1 each. With a bit of sewing your diapers are like new and ready to keep trucking. Planning to use them with a second child and then sell or pass them to another family. So great for the environment, but even more for the pocketbook.

These are several responses from some of the members of the Chicago Area Real Diaper Circle. We have about 3 different things to do at night, but my favorites are a g-diaper with a microfiber layered first and then a prefold over that. also, Wool longies over an urban fluff fitted and a punkin butt doubler. I have a 2.5 year old and we either use the Super Do or RumpaRooz hemp 6r inserts at night. But my go to all time favorite is LolliDoo Overnight eco pocket dipe. It is amazing and always dry sheets! I put a double stuffed fuzzi bunz on her and that does the trick. We are recent converts to the Superdo, but only have one so far! So, when it is clean (~every other night) we use that, and on the other nights we use the BG insert + 2 hemp inserts, inside a BG one size pocket. I've been really lucky to find that the bumgenius organics work amazingly well overnight. Before that, I loved goodmamas w. a doubler and a wool cover for night. I know I have shared this a few times and have even converted a few people on here, but we love the SuperDo insert for use at night. The SuperDo is a one-piece insert with microfiber and hemp. It is a heavy-duty insert, yet surprisingly trim. The great thing about using this insert as your nighttime solution is that you can just put it inside any pocket diaper and you are done. No double or triple stuffing, no extra covers. My son has yet to completely wet his SuperDos, and he is a heavy wetter. I'm a prefold lover! I use a prefold with some sort of doubler (SuperDo, hemp insert...) and a wool cover (Little Beetle is my favorite at the moment) or a double fleece cover (Stacinator). We've never had a leak with this combo!

I started with nighttime diapers. My daughter was 7 months old and even thought I changed her diaper in the middle of the night she was still soaking through to her pj's and the diaper was opening and putting dangerous gel on her butt. I started by trying a few different pockets and found that for my slim girl, the best fit is the Fuzzi Bunz one size diaper. At first I had to stuff it with 1 hemp stuffins and two bamboo prefolds, but once she started sleeping through the night at 10 months we were able to downsize to 1 hemp and 1 bamboo. Her little tush is never red or wet in the morning, even though the inserts are soaked! I LOVE cloth diapers!!

For overnight, we use the bumgenius organic with a doubler and we have never had a wet morning, with the 2 yr old or the 9 mo old.
